I Learned ~ 12.30.10

December 31, 2010 at 2:38 am (I Learned..., Photography)

It was hard to narrow down my “I learned” this week, but I had to go with starbursts. Ever since I learned how to from this blog, I’ve created a starburst nearly everytime I’m outside with my camera!

I have to put two pictures out there this week—once again, I couldn’t narrow it down!
Here we have opposites—sunburst at the beach, and from the bottom of a 10 foot snowpile. Both of these were taken about 2 weeks apart (although, in both instances, the temperature was below freezing!)

My favorite of the two-

The second one—on the day after Christmas, Mother Nature dumped over 2 feet of snow on us. Since we live on a cul-de-sac, we get huuuuuge snow piles in our yard when the plows come down.
Still working on that white balance thing—I know the snow is blue here, but it was the best I could do….

These are both awesome shots, I really like the way the burst is in front of the fencing. Great capture. The snow starburst is fabulous. Your placement is perfect in both shots. You’ve mastered it!!

It’s wonderful to know someone who’s as crazy as I am, and will bundle up to head out in subzero weather and a blizzard to get that one memorable photo! (who cares if we have to take the “heat” for not shoveling!)

These are fabulous! I LOVE starbursts and take them all the time too!!! Both of these shots are great! No wonder you couldn’t pick your favorite. I think the starbursts add so much to these photos! The snow one actually looks like big old fluffy clouds :O) Great job!!

Oh wow! I LOVE LOVE the first shot! Maybe because I am missing the beach right now. 😉 I have been wanting to learn how to do this. Thank you for sharing the link. I am going to go check it out!
