Sushi!
mmmm—I was clearly craving sushi yesterday.
I made a Sculpey cane of sushi and cut it into 3/8″ slices. Most of them were pierced so they could be strung, and a few I put onto a plate to turn into a magnet. I plan on turning the rest into stitch markers for crochet projects.

Calorimetry Hat
“Calorimetry” is a scientific word for “heat lost or gained”–in comparison, a Calorimetry Hat is a hat that can be worn so no heat is lost through the head, yet it allows your hair to hang free in the back (either down or in a pony tail). Its the best of both worlds!
Here it is on—I’m thinking it needs some sort of embroidered design—stay tuned.
Here it is lying flat. I added two scallops on the edge where it falls over my ears, so it can completly cover them

And here is a close up picture to show the stitches. It is croched into the front loop to make the texture.

Quilted Ball Ornament
I’ve been wanting to make one of these for a few weeks now—I just finished it this morning—-a little more labor intensive then I thought.
Craftster.org challenge
Every month on Craftster.org, there is a craft challenge. The challenge for the month of Dec was “Super Ugly to Super Awesome”
( http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=205442.0 ) where the contestants had to take an ugly thrift store find and turn it into something totally awesome.
I took a chair that had been found on the side of the road. It was completly gross, the cushion had fallen out, it was colored on (looked like crayon to me) etc. It was nasty.
Those are the parts that once held the seat in….

So after a bit of sanding, dusting, and some more dusting, then about a gallon of Mod Podge, you get this:

The seat—this is actually a Monopoly board pillow form I’ve had for years.

Ornament Party
I was invited to an ornament party where everyone brings a Holiday ornament, and swaps it for another. I couldn’t bring myself to go out and buy an ornament, so I made these two. They are basically glass ornaments decoupaged with tissue paper. The images of Santa Mickey and the Disney World Park Icons are rubber stamped images, that I colored in with Sharpie Markers. The Mickey snowflake backgroud was printed tissue paper, and on the Four Park Icon ornament, I used glitter tissue paper. Both were coated with a glitter varnish, and then a clear coat.

For my boyfriend
The next two things are things I made for my boyfriend.
The first is an R2D2 ornament I made for him for our 6 month anniversary. I swirl painted the inside of the ornament with white paint, and painted the top with silver paint. The blue details were painted on, and a blue sharpie marker was used for the small details.

His birthday was a week later, and I made him this Mickey Mouse birthday cake:

I also made him a scrapbook and a fleece blanket, but I’ll have to steal them back to get some pictures.
Disney Swap
Over on craftster.org, they have numerous swaps that one can participate in. A swap is when a group of people with a common interest get togther and pair off. Then you get to know your partner, and have a month to hand make some things for them. My swap partner was going to WDW as soon as the swap was over, so I made her a little survival kit. She was going to a ton of character breakfast’s so I researched what characters were going to be at each, and made her an autograph book. Here’s each page individually, along with the 6×6 scrapbook I put it in.
Here’s an up close shot of some pages

I also made a drawstring backpack for her. The red “shorts” are actually two pockets.

Here’s the whole package– I also made her a birthday card, a pair of earrings and some gem magnets

Time to catch up again!
I’ve been busy with school lately (Finals are this week!), but I’ve still been crafting—I just haven’t had a chance to post. So here is November in review:
My bf and I made this Disney survival kit for his Aunt and Uncle who were taking their two kids to Disney for a week. They are just about as obsessed as we were, so this seemed fitting. We covered an empty paint can with scrapbook paper and stickers and filled it with 2 Disney books, 4 T-shirts, 2 packs of Disney crayons, 2 Disney fans, 4 mini washcloths, etc.
